The sealed Central Heating system is one that more and more people are opting for these days. As the name indicates, a sealed system is a an enclosed system therefore no expansion water tanks are needed. There are no tanks or pipework in the loft, the whole system is sealed, its unvented, which has its benefits:.
- There is no risk of pipes freezing in the loft as with older systems.
- No maintenance work on the tank or pipes that would be in the attic in a pumped/vented system.
- This decreases the chances of a possible leakage.
- Unlike pumped/vented systems, air is not drawn through open vents so the possibility of airlocks, corrosion and sludge is much lower.
- The main water pressure can easily be used to flush out a Sealed system for easy maintenance.
A sealed Central Heating System is a system with the required controls and safety equipment all contained in one. No tank feeds a sealed system, the supply comes directly from the mains. There is no hot water tank, so water is drawn directly from the main supply.
A pressure vessel containing tightly packed gas can allow a sealed system to have normal fluctuations of pressure; a diaphragm serves as a barrier between the gas and water in the sealed system. If the pressure becomes too high in a sealed Central Heating System; a safety valve will allow water to escape from the system and if the pressure drops too low a valve will open to refill the system with water.
Gas Central Heating Systems are a worthwhile investment as they have the lowest cost of operation when compared with other types of heating. They offer you a lot more control of your home environment than the other heating systems.
