Don’t leave out boiler cover plans
Don’t leave out boiler cover plans
Nowadays, there is almost nothing that can’t be covered by insurance, from the health of dogs to safety of pda’s. Some are more important than others, and some are even compulsory, as is the case with car insurance. Buildings insurance is required by the finance lender when an individual takes out a house mortgage. Such insurance holders can prevent the wrecking of their finances that can result from unforeseen financial circumstances.
The next step down would be things like heating system insurance, which can be found with companies such as British Gas and Hometeam (npower). The central heating system policy is obviously not as important as your home insurance, but its important nonetheless as fixing it can cost you a fortune if you have an unexpected boiler or heating failure. A broken down heating system is highly troublesome, particularly in cold weather, and waiting for someone to come and fix it can be utter misery. A damaged or badly maintained central heating system can leak carbon monoxide gas which can be deadly.
Several types of central heating insurance plans are available. The simplest plans are those that include just the minimum requirements with yearly servicing and safety inspections. Maintenance and spare parts coverage are not included in these policies and servicing plans. You can upgrade to a more comprehensive plan that includes spare parts and repairs by paying a small amount on a monthly basis, however remember you don’t need to pay anything if your heating boiler is still in the warranty period. This additional money will be a worthwhile payment especially if the gas boiler is approaching its end of life. When upgrading to a comprehensive plan, homeowners can choose to also insure the pipework and radiators or heating controls along with the boiler.
One thing to watch out for when choosing a policy is any exemptions or limitations written into the policy document. Some insurance companies place an upper limit on the number of repair calls made per year or define a ceiling level for the cost of maintenance for a specific period. As with all types of insurance, don’t just choose the cheapest premium without making sure the level of cover is adequate.
