Gas Boiler insurance cover are a standard requirement these days

These days there exist insurance policies which can cover a very wide range of events ranging from pet health through standard problems such as mobile cover. Insurance takes on more importance for some items like motor vehicles and even machinery, where it is required by law. Lenders will also require borrowers to take out building insurance if they have a mortgage to cover the cost of replacement and rebuilding. These insurance policies can prevent you from suffering huge loses impacting on your life for years to come.

Moving a step down the ladder of importance we find central heating system insurance, such as the products offered by British Gas. These insurances are not as widely used as they should be – for while they are not as necessary as insuring the very structure of a house, the central heating system of a home is most definitely a necessity and repairing it can cost a lot. Another issue is that finding someone to fix it in an emergency can be a lengthy process and living without warm water or heating is unthinkable, especially in winter. A damaged or badly maintained gas central heating system can leak carbon monoxide gas which can be deadly.

A wide choice of plans exist in the market for both central heating system servicing and central heating repair. The usual insurance policy is the one that covers the basic requirements and could include annual inspection and servicing. In such a plan, the cost of repair and spare parts is separately billed, some of the better quality plans include this enhanced cover. But anyone taking out one of these plans, unless their heating boiler is still under warranty, only has to pay a small amount more per month to upgrade to a policy that covers repairs and spare parts. This additional money will be a worthwhile payment especially if the central heating boiler is approaching its end of life. At this step customers have two choices, whether they want just their heating boiler covered or do they want to extend their cover to other things like radiators, the central heating system and elements of the heating controls and central heating pump.

One thing to watch out for when choosing a policy is any exemptions or limitations written into the policy document. For example, you may be limited to a certain number of call outs annually or a cap on the cost of repairs that will be covered. As with all types of insurance, don’t just choose the cheapest premium without making sure the level of cover is adequate.
