There are a multitude of type of central heating boiler
There are different kinds of Gas Central Heating Systems that can be bought in the market. Almost all these systems have a central heating boiler at the core, with pipework connecting it to radiators.
Across the majority of Northern Europe the climate is not warm enough to warrant air conditioning. Most of us need a decent heating supply far more; this is why the majority of new homes that are being built in this day and age are built with a Gas Central Heating System.
A reliable Gas Central Heating system is important to keep your home warm especially during winter months. A well heated house can help create a comfortable space for you to enjoy with your family. Therefore your heating system needs to be efficient and reliable. A good central heating system should inspire confidence, give value for money and be simple to operate.
Vented (or pumped) and Sealed heating systems are the two most common types available.
Pumped/vented systems are the most frequent. The basic differentiating components of such a system are a feed and expansion tank. Your heating radiators are heated and your water is stored in a hot water tank. The expansion tank has adequate space to accommodate any water expansion that occurs due to heat. A pumped/vented heating system requires that the tank be installed at the highest level within the house – such as an attic or attic space, certainly on the top floor. It heats the house and doubles as the water supply.
A lot of older homes have pumped/vented Central Heating systems.
A sealed system is now being used in the new houses that are being built. As the name indicates, a sealed system is a an enclosed system therefore no expansion water tanks are needed. There are benefits to have this closed type of system with pipework and tanks being unnecessary.
- As there are no pipes, they cannot freeze up in the attic.
- There won’t be any repair work on the tank or pipes which will be in the attic for a pumped/vented system.
- The risk of leakage is decreased as there are fewer pipes and the system is less complex.
- Unlike pumped/vented systems, air is not drawn through open vents so the possibility of airlocks, corrosion and sludge is much lower.
- The mains water supply can flush the sealed system if required.
Such a Sealed Central Heating System is installed with all the required gauges, controls and safeguards. A sealed Gas Central Heating System uses water that comes directly from the main water supply. The mains water goes straight to the sealed system.
The system also has a pressure vessel which contains compressed gas, it controls the variations in pressure and a diaphragm is used to separate it from the sealed system. If the pressure becomes too high in a sealed Gas Central Heating System; a safety valve will allow water to escape from the system and if the pressure drops too low a valve will open to refill the system with water.
Gas Central Heating Systems are a worthwhile investment as they have the lowest cost of performance when compared with other types of heating. They also provide you with complete control which is much more than other heating systems can say about themselves.
